Edumacation.

In the 1900's slaves really had no source of education. Most slaves did not know how to read and write. They were extremely illiterate. Some slave owners were very nice and kind, and taught some slaves how to read and write. Other slave owners were brutal and would punish slaves if they were caught being taught on how to read an write. In this condition, they would learn through other slaves.

Line Down Middle of World.

From the 1950's to 60's African American citizens were segregated. They really had no say in what White people did. There were drastic measures to people who tried to change this during this time. For instance, Beaten up, sprayed with fire hoses, etc. The Ku Klux Klan also had effect in people. They did not like the African Americans or anyone who did not agree with them. The KKK would even make deals with the police in some states, almost like a bribe. It wasn't until Martin Luther King Jr. who actually succeeded in anti segregation. Lifestyle in the 50's and 60's were very brutal.

Oregon Trail...Lvl 1

This game is very peculiar. It is different from today's technology. By playing this game you come to the conclusion that you really need to read and pay attention to small details other wise you will not know the answers to the questions provided. It then goes onto a documentary type of interactive video game. The graphics of it alone cracked me up with a huge smirk. by interacting with this video game and remembering historic dates, locations, and persons, it will help you remember specific events. it is like playing jeopardy for a different subject, for example; English, Science, or even World History.

The Computer is Mightier Than The Pen.

I really enjoy blogging more than pen and paper. its the 21 century and were finally advancing in some fields. I dislike writing things down on paper. If it was up to me, all school work would be done by computers. Although we are advancing toward that region, not fast enough. Most teens (like me) are always on the computer, so it makes homework a lot easier to do. You also cant come up with the excuse that the dog ate it, or you lost it. Doing homework electronically has its advantages. We are also saving trees and pen ink. Going green is a major concern in today's society, and doing homework online is a major step toward green!

Favorite Blog?. . .Hmmmm

My Favorite blog, I would say is the Six Word Story. It is unique. I never heard of such a thing and it is really fun to find something. Six words isn't a whole lot to work with so that made it challenging. Finding out what to say on a specific topic was the challenging part. It made it fun though. Its not something we are accustomed to in our every day life. So thanks for picking it Mr. Meechin!

Sewing Music

The Song of The Shirt was very hard hitting. It made me feel like we have it really easy compared to them. They would work long shifts all day while we work eight hour shifts. Their fingers hurt repulsively and theres nothing they can do. There were no laws governing the abuse against these poor people. Conditions must have been gruesome. Hot, sweaty, painful, and dangerous. There were no safety regulations to affect them. It was how it was. They worked to keep food on the table. As little as children would work. I can imagine dropping out of school just for a job. But you had to do it to help support your family. Life in a textile, or factory was hard and very boring. Singing songs kept the people occupied and made time go faster. I know I would do the same thing if I had to work in a mill. Think of life in their shoes, in their perspective. Life has changed a lot since then.

Six Word Story

Daughter holds doll with firm grip.

Yeee Haww!!

Being a cowboy wasn't something you could just dress up as. It was a job. Erwin E. Smith had the best of both worlds. He was a photographer and a cowboy. Managing ranches and living the life of a cowboy wasn't easy. Judging from the pictures, Life was harder than it sounds. It was like a family. Always caring for each others and looking out for each other. Each person played an important role in the field of a cowboy. Gun slinging wasn't just all they did. They had to bust broncos, some people had to cook, there were butchers, and much more. Shooting people was just a skill and who ever had a problem with it had been dealt with. So when the word "Cowboy" comes up, think before you start stereotyping someone.

A New Hope. . .

Coming to America must have changed the lives of many individuals. They look kinda excited to have a new chance. Not only another chance at life, but a new chance for jobs and education. Processing looks boring and i probably was.Even today processing for anything can get boring. But It all pays out in the end. When they got to Ellis Island and say the majesty of the building and the architectural master piece, they must have been astonished. Once they left Ellis Island and gotten into New York, their perspective must have changed. In all reality, the immigrants must have been really happy for a new chance. That is why they all tried to come to America anyway.
